Anonymizer Dial-up Connection Instructions - Windows 95

These are instructions to help you set up an Anonymizer Dial-up Internet Connection.  This is a process consisting of creating a new entry in Dial-up Networking

Network Numbers/Hostnames:

Checking mail - POP3 server: mail.anonymizer.com
Sending mail - SMTP server: smtp.anonymizer.com
Newsgroups - NNTP server: news.anonymizer.com

Creating a new entry in Dial-up Networking

    1. Open My Computer.  Open Dial-up Networking. Open Make new connection.

    2. Enter "Anonymizer" as the name for the computer to dial. Click Next
    3. Enter the area code and telephone number for the local number in your area. Check
Dial-up Numbers  for the number closest to you, and check your phone book so you can dial this number without a toll.  Click Next.  Click Finish.
    4. Right-click the new "Anonymizer icon and choose Properties. Change nothing except what these instructions mention. Leave everything else as is. If you are making a local telephone call, make sure you un-check the "Use country code and area code" box.

    5. Click the "Server Types" button. Make sure these items are not checked: Require encrypted password, NetBEUI, and IPX/SPX compatible.
    6. Click TCP/IP Settings. The first button should be checked: Server assigned IP address.  In the second section, check "Server assigned name server addresses". (Graphic below is incorrect) Do not change the check boxes.
    7. Click the OK buttons until you exit the Dial-up Networking window.

    8. Right-click the new Anonymizer icon and choose "Make shortcut". Follow the prompts and create an icon on the desktop for the new Anonymizer Dialup connection, if you want.
