Ringlink,
the open source CGI Perl program that powers this webrings system. The program is so good and so well supported that it was the only choice to be used here, it has no peer.
ABOUT RINGLINK
alt-webrings makes use of the Ringlink Program which allows you to run
a webrings, i.e. a system of links between web sites of a similar topic, content, or interest.
Unlike the WebRing and
Ringsurf
ring systems, Ringlink enables you to host the system on your own web server. There are
many benefits in hosting your own ring system, here's a few that come to mind:
- You have unrivalled independence and complete control over the rings on your system and
operate your rings EXACTLY as YOU want to.
- Ringlink is freeware.
- You can customize the Ringlink program source code if you're game enough (and fussy
enough!).
- Ringlink is well supported, there is a very healthy user community and technical backup
is superb.
- Updates of the program are released regularly.
