Socialism Lives!

Is the Bush administration a raging group of anarchic socialists when it comes to Iraq? Sounds plausible. At the very least I hope the U.S. public holds up how well we do in Iraq as a major factor in their 2004 decision. If the doctrine of "regime change" includes reconstructing domestic institutions, I like the quote "RC begins at home" even more.

I don't know...I'm cynical...people will remember that we "won" the war, not what happened in Iraq afterwards. As this fades from public attention, the economy could be his undoing. That and really fractured English, like when he said on the radio yesterday that some world leader (was it Ariel Sharon?) was "fixin' to come to the USA."

"Fixin' to come." Smart Southerners and smart Texas don't talk like this. I've lived in the South and in Texas for many years and the only time you heard "fixin' to" was in anger (someone's mom saying "I'm fixin' to paddle your ass") or very informally. Not in public speaking. But then no ever accused GWB of being smart. Which brings me to the nagging question of who is actually running this country, but I digress.

I think the article answers its own question:

'Those who study domestic violence say that a wife abuser is likely to display uncommon warmth and affection just after administering a hearty beating. So too, perhaps, our leaders who, having briefly sated their aggressions during "shock and awe," are now filled with the milk of human kindness.'

In other words -- overcompensation driven by extreme GUILT. And where are those weapons of mass destruction?

You certainly know that socialists are opponents of the Cheney/Bush regime.
