How to setup Outlook to read and send mail, and read news.

This tutorial will show you how to setup Microsoft Outlook to work with SSH.

By using SSH and setting your Mail/News Program to travel through the SSH program, your connection to Anonymizer and your mail will travel through an encrypted channel, which will protect your mail from being monitored by your internet servcie provider.

To read mail or news group you have to make another port forwarding in your SSH program. Just like you did with Cyberpass.net port 80.

These are the three new port forwardings necessary:
smtp.anonymizer.com port 25
mail.anonymizer.com port 110
news.anonymizer.com port 119

Directions for Setting up your Mail/News Program

Follow these steps to setup Microsoft Outlook to read/send mail and newsgroups:

  1. Open Outlook 2000.
  2. From the toolbar select Tools, then Acounts.
  3. Click the Add button and select Mail.
  4. Enter in a name for the Display Name. Click Next.
  5. Mark 'I already have an e-mail address that I'd like to use'.
  6. For the E-mail address enter username@mail.anonymizer.com or any that you would like to use.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Select POP3 Server for your incoming mail server.
  9. Enter localhost for incoming mail server.
  10. Enter localhost for outgoing mail server.
  11. Click Next.
  12. Enter Account Name. It is your option whether you want your password remembered or not.
  13. Do not check 'Log on using Secure Password Authentication'.
  14. Click Next.
  15. Finsh answering any remaining questions and Click Finish at the end. Now to Setup for Newsgroups.
  16. While still in Internet Accounts select Add and then News.
  17. Enter in a name then click next and enter in an e-mail address. Click next.
  18. Your News server will be localhost.
  19. Do not check 'My news server requires me to log in'. Click next.
  20. Click Finish.
