How to Setup Anonymizer Secure Tunneling with SecureCRT 3.4 and above

This tutorial will show you how to set up SSH for use with Anonymizer. SSH allows you to create an encrypted connection to the Anonymizer. This secure connection protects your online activities from monitoring by your Internet Service Provider or other intermediary.

Setting Up SecureCRT 3.4 and above

  1. Open "SecureCRT."

  2. Click on "File" and select "Connect."

  3. Select the "New Session" button.

  4. Select "Connection" on the left hand side.

  5. For Name type "Cyberpass.net".
  6. Select "ssh2" for Protocol.
  7. For Hostname use "Cyberpass.net".
  8. Port should already be "22".
  9. For Username type in your username.
  10. On the left hand side select "Port Forwarding".

  11. Click on the "Add" button.

  12. For Name type "http".
  13. For Port type "80".
  14. Select the check box :Destination host is different from the SSH server".
  15. For Hostname type "cyberpass.net".
  16. For Port type "80".
  17. Then Click "OK".
  18. Click on the "Add" button again.

  19. For Name type "pop".
  20. For Port type "110".
  21. Select the check box "Destination host is different from the SSH server".
  22. For Hostname type "mail.anonymizer.com".
  23. For Port type "10".
  24. Then Click "OK".
  25. Click on the "Add" button again

  26. For Name type "smtp".
  27. For Port type "25".
  28. Select the check box "Destination host is different from the SSH server".
  29. For Hostname type "smtp.anonymizer.com".
  30. For Port type "25".
  31. Then Click "OK".
  32. Click on the "Add" button again.

  33. For Name type "news".
  34. For Port type "119".
  35. Select the check box "Destination host is different from the SSH server".
  36. For Hostname type "ca.news.verio.net"
  37. A dialog like the one below will appear prompting you for a password.
  38. Then Click "OK".
  39. Your Local Port Forward should now show . . .

  40. Click "OK".

  41. Click on "Show dialog on startup".
  42. Double clik on "Cyberpass.net".

  43. A box will pop up asking about a "New Host Key".
  44. Click on "Accept & Save".

  45. The "Enter Password" box will appear
  46. Type in your password and select "OK".

  47. You will then be logged in and see this in the window. You may then minimize SecureCRT.
