1.  What does Per Site Privacy Levels do?

Per Site Privacy Levels allows users to have different Privacy Settings for a given site than the Global Privacy Level setting.  If you have a “Saved Privacy Level” for a site, whenever you connect to that site your Saved Privacy Level for that particular site will automatically apply.

2.  Recent Sites

The “Recent Sites” list shows the sites that you have recently visited but does not include the sites that you have established a per-site Privacy Level for.  The list includes not only the site you typed into your browser and links you followed, but also the sites automatically accessed by the site you visited.

For example, if the site you are visiting calls other sites to serve advertisements or to track visits to their site, those sites will appear in the Recent Sites list.

You can use the Recent Sites lists to add sites to your “Saved Privacy Levels” list.

5.  Downloading Anonymizer Recommended Sites

Anonymizer provides recommended Privacy Levels for some sites that are available for download.

1.       Click on the Download button to check for Anonymizer’s recommendations.

If you already have the most recent download by clicking on the Anonymizer Recommended Sites, you will be notified you are up to date.

If there are new sites downloaded, they will be added to the Saved Privacy Levels list.  When they are added, they will include Anonymizer’s recommended Privacy Levels.

Your Preferences will always override Anonymizer’s recommendations.

Any of the above methods can be used to add sites to the Saved Privacy Levels list.  Once a site is added to the Saved Privacy Levels list, you have the option to modify the Privacy Levels.

Maximum

Maximum Privacy offers protection from a comprehensive list of threats.  Like the “High” setting, you may see problems on sites with complex functionality.  If you have problems with a site you know and trust, you may want to set up a lower privacy level for that site.  See the Per Site Privacy Levels section to get directions for setting up privacy on a per site basis.

High

This privacy level expands the protections covered in the Medium Level.  While this setting does protect against all but the most aggressive hacks, some sites with complex functionality may have problems.  If you have problems with a site you know and trust, you may want to set up a lower privacy level for that site.  See the Per Site Privacy Levels section to get directions for setting up privacy on a per site basis.

This setting offers some minimal protection from privacy threats.  It will stop pop-ups and some other of the most common means of Internet advertising and third party data collection.
