TURNING THE TOOLBAR ON & OFF
  • To activate or deactivate privacy protection, click the Privacy Toolbar's ON/OFF button or the Anonymizer Shield. (If you are using the premium Full Version Toolbar, you may be prompted for your username and password before you can begin surfing.)

  • The page you are viewing will automatically refresh, and a small bar will appear at the top of the page that lets you know you're protected.

  • When you click ON or OFF, all of your open browser windows will be turned ON or OFF automatically.

  • When protection is ON, your surfing will remain protected as you follow links, type new URLs into the Internet Explorer Navigation Bar, or select Favorites or History links. In other words, no matter how you surf or what pages you visit, you will remain protected until you turn protection OFF.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
When you turn the Toolbar ON, your surfing is automatically sent through our special Privacy Servers. There we rewrite the pages you want to see, shielding your unique IP address and removing or filtering privacy threats like Cookies, Web Bugs, JavaScript and more.

SECURITY SETTINGS
Normal Setting: The default Security Setting for the Anonymizer Privacy Toolbar is Normal. With Normal selected, you will have a level of privacy and security that's more than sufficient for general Web surfing, with minimal problems accessing Web pages.

Maximum Setting: Selecting Maximum activates the highest level of privacy and security Anonymizer can provide. Because the Maximum setting blocks a number of common Web elements, like Cookies and JavaScript, there may be a small number of Web pages you visit that do not load or function properly. If you encounter one of these, you can usually fix the problem by changing your setting to Normal for the page in question.

Custom Settings: To configure your own settings, click "Set Custom" on the Privacy Toolbar. The "Anonymizer Privacy Settings" window will open, where you can choose from the long list of options and features. Once you are done, click "Save Changes & Close" to save your custom settings.

Moving the Privacy Toolbar in Internet Explorer
The following steps may be necessary if the Privacy Toolbar has moved or displaced your other IE toolbars (like your Links bar, for example) and you want to put them back to their original position.
  1. Right-click the Windows icon in the upper right hand corner your Internet Explorer browser window. A menu like the one pictured below should appear.

  2. Unlock the IE Toolbars. If there is a check mark next to the "Lock Toolbars" option, select this option in order to uncheck it. (If the "Lock Toolbars" option is already unchecked, you can skip this step)

  3. Rearrange your toolbars as desired. Activating the Anonymizer Privacy Toolbar may have moved or condensed some of your toolbars (the Links bar is a common one affected - it may be condensed). You can grab and move or expand any toolbar to a new position simply by clicking, holding and dragging it.
